World Book Encyclopedia - Print or Online?

Print Encyclopedia

WORLD BOOK ONLINE

Students in Fourth Grade are learning the important features in World Book Encyclopedia.  After a discussion of key word searching and guide words, students feverishly searched for the answers in a print volume of the encyclopedia.  The next week they were introduced to World Book Online which is found in our schools, "Virtual Reference Collection".  I asked the students to do a compare/contrast activity upon completion.  A discussion followed and below are some of the student's comments!
"I like the print encyclopedia best because you need to know how to use the guide words and find things alphabetically." - Casey
"I like to use the computer because you don't need to flip pages.  You just type it into the search bar and the answer just pops up." - Chris
"I like World Book Online better because you don't get any paper cuts and it's faster." - Natalie
"World Book Online is more updated and seems to give better explanations of things." - Morgan
